Research On Video-based Traffic Flow Parameters Detection System

In recent years, countries around the world have established extensive transportation network, but the growth of vehicles is much higher than the growth of roads and other transport facilities, then caused a series of traffic problems, such as huge material and economic loss, to solve the issue'effectiveness is also very limited only depends construction of roads and other transport facilities. So the traffic flow monitoring, management and evacuation appears very necessary. At present, the highway and the urban road has been established the camera along it. The camera signal is transmitted to the monitoring center for monitoring, so as to build the foundation of traffic flow parameters'video detection.This paper is a full integration system research between information technology and traffic engineering system, it has been using the theoretical analysis and research to engineering practice means, and using the existing traffic flow parameters'detector to study how to choice the hardware and the detection algorithm. This paper designed the system's frame and model. The thorough research of various parameters detection algorithm has been conducted, and compiled the code to carry on the examination, from two aspects of the algorithm efficiency and effectiveness to improve and optimize the algorithm until the system to achieve real-time requirements. Mainly algorithm includes: based on statistical model background extraction and renewal algorithm; moving target area integration algorithm; moving target shadow elimination algorithm; based on the target match's vehicles track algorithm and so on a series of algorithms. On the above algorithm's foundation, the traffic flow parameters extraction was realized.On the basis of the traffic flow parameters realization, this article also realized a traffic flow parameters detection workstations and mask map production software, all of them were realized the good man-machine interactive features. The system has realized to display the real-time video images, to extract and display the real-time traffic flow parameters and so on major function, it can be applied to highways and urban roads in the traffic flow for real-time monitoring, thus it was facilitating for the road traffic officers to manage and evacuate the traffic of road. Ultimately, video-based traffic flow parameters detection system was developed and realized, and it has achieved the design requirements after testing, the system in the technical realization may supply to use for reference.
