In recent years,.together with the rapid developing of computer technology, a very important trend in ship steam power plant automation is the substitution of human hands and eyes by computer, which is used to monitor the operating conditions of devices, record and analyze the data of device conditions. The ship steam power plant is increasingly complex, so it has new requirements for power equipments. Therefore, the new task is how to ensure to serve for the ship safely, stably and reliably.In addition, for the complete or individual ship steam power plants which are researched and improved recently, it is necessary to obtain the first hand information for data of equipment operating condition, that is to say there should be an effective monitoring of operating conditions and technical analysis for the equipment before shipment, so as to ensure to realize the design purpose and quality check.The paper, based on the detailed analysis and research for the characteristics of ship steam power plant, combining C8051F processor with advanced bus on site and large-scale storage technology, shows the accomplishment of acquisition, communication and storage for the status parameters of ship steam power plant. The acquisition system is mainly used to process the values of analog data, digital signals, rotational speed signals and temperature signals. The communication system is used to transfer data from acquisition system to upper PC through CAN bus. And the memory system is used to store the data coming from CAN bus into large-scale USB storage unit. Finally, information synthesis method and VC++ development environment are applied to develop a set of Windows On-line Monitoring System Software, which can monitor, analyze and process the status parameters of equipments in real time.This paper adopts mainly several research methods, such as practical research method, document information method, induction method, etc. Using these methods, it finishes the design and construction of hardware platform for each individual acquisition system, communication system and monitoring record system, as well as the design and debugging of software flowchart and function for them.It verifies the correctness and reliability of system design by practical experience. At the end of this paper, we summarize the whole design and describe the prospect of functions and designs which is needed to be completed.
