With the progress of human civilization, the requirements for illumination are not only for brightness but for the influence on physiology and psychology, this trend asks for a higher-level reform of lighting design. The rich color gamut,improvement of luminous efficiency and advantage of decreasing price, make tri-chromatic white light emitting diodes with features of high efficiency and energy-saving show great market potential for conventional illumination field,perfectly agree with the higher requirement for lighting quality of people. At present, the application research on tri-chromatic white LED is still in beginning stage domestic and overseas. The purpose of this paper is doing some exploratory research on how to improve lighting quality using its advantage of LED's rich color gamut, presenting a design method for tri-chromatic white LED used in conventional illumination place.Based on the properties of spectrum and mixed spectrum of tri-chromatic white LED, the paper analyzes the relativity between the significant superiority of its application on conventional lighting place and the higher requirement of illumination quality; according to its special photoelectric properties,temperature properties and spectrum properties, the approach on how to realize higher illumination quality by tri-chromatic white LED sources is analyzed, with the help of proper ratio of three primary colors needed by source color temperature and intensity, the process and method of how to do the lighting design for conventional place using tri-chromatic white LED is proposed; aiming at color variation problem in working process of tri-chromatic white LED, the main reasons are analyzed and the design concept of control system is proposed, by means of the built simulation model, the results show that the control system can solve the problem of color variation effectively; according to the features of tri-chromatic white LED, the realizing method of tri-chromatic white LED used in network intelligent control system is explored initially. The thesis gives an example of how to design light and color and how to design control system based on the different requirement of illumination scene at different period in office. And then a comparison between tri-chromatic white LED and fluorescent lamp in illumination index and energy saving index is presented to prove the superiority of illuminating by tri-chromatic white LED.By studying on the superiority,feasibility and realizing method of tri-chromatic white LED's application in conventional lighting field, the thesis makes a valuable exploration in the improvement of illumination quality and how to enter the conventional lighting field for tri-chromatic white LED, it provides a selected approach for obtaining high quality of architectural light environment by full use of high efficiency and energy saving luminaries, the thesis has the certain theory and the practical value.
