Since the conception was tabled in the mid-1990s, the Grid Architecture has been developed from pure computational to middleware, and now the Service-Oriented Architecture. Many research institutions have developed their own independent grid system in the past 10 years. Grid is a distributed system which coordinated resource sharing and problem solving in dynamic, multi-institutional virtual organizations, and all the resources are highly heterogeneous, ranging from single PCs and workstations, cluster of workstations, to supercomputers, therefore, the more heterogeneous systems exist the much more difficult to interoperate these grids.Grid middleware, which (also known as grid operating system) provides users with a series of tools, resources sharing agreements, corresponding software development environments and application programming interfaces, is the key to achieve Grid technology. The lack of standard protocols and APIs in grid middleware makes the whole grid environments hard to interoperate.Grid service becomes more and more attractive for coordinating large scale heterogeneous resources sharing and problem solving in dynamic, multi-institutional virtual organizations. Thus the CSGrid project uses a unique and independent portal mechanism to contain, deploy and invoke all the heterogeneous grid services; it makes the interoperability between CGSP and VEGA, which are the largest education and research grids in China, become a reality. With an application to the Agent service in Grid Resource Broker module, users get their authentications to access resources. And some Algorithms used in the system make it possible to construct large-scale applications over the heterogeneous, dynamic and huge extensive grid environments. At last, based on a week's user access log analyzing, the system was proved to be serviceable. Then with mathematical evaluation and experimental evaluation, the whole Portal mechanism shows good scalability and flexibility.
