As an important application in opto-electronic system, laser scanner has been widely used in military affairs, industry detector, aircraft and space fields, etc. It is of enormous market potential and brightly prospect. Western developed countries have paid closely attention on the research and development of laser scanning system. Reflecting laser scanners based on embedded control system become the mainstream of high-level production compared with other scanning techniques. In the reflecting scanning system, it's a key point to control and orientate the reflector moving track accurately. Researchers in most counties adopt the embedded feedback control system to solve the problem. This paper focuses on the construction and realization of the embedded ARM (Advanced RISC Machines)-Linux platform, and researches on the design and development of the reflector scanner's feedback control system on ARM-Linux platform. The main contents are as follows:(1) The ARM processor for application has been chosen after analysis and compare of the characteristics of a series of ARM processors. Then the performance of ARM processor, as well as the resources on chip and the periphery hardware on the developed board, are studied and mastered. At last, the building of the embedded feedback control hardware system is implemented.(2) Analyzing and comparing the embedded operating systems, after choosing the Linux OS (Operating System), the BootLoader has been overwritten and the Linux shell commands and generic developing tools have been explained. Then, by compiling the Linux kernel and building the file system, the ARM-Linux cross-compiling environment is completed as well. After copying the files compiled into the hardware system and restarting the system, the information displayed indicates that the embedded Linux OS has been compiled and transplanted successfully into the system.(3) Analyzing and designing the embedded feedback control system: The whole system is divided into several function modules. According to the modules specifications, the QT graphical interfaces are transplanted. Furthermore, the QT man-machine conversation interface is designed and realized. The PID (proportional, integrating, differentiation) algorithm has been figured, improved and finished. After designing the ideal tracks, the file reading function code has been written, and the SPI (serial peripheral interface) communication module has been designed and obtained.
