Multilevel high voltage frequency converter is special electrical equipment that facilitates high voltage motor to accomplish stepless speed regulation and meets the requirement of the speed regulation control for motor in production process. The aim of this study is to develop frequency converter of high power and high voltage under the situation that the motor driving systems are technically outdated in state-owned medium and large enterprises and the domestic production capacity of high-power frequency converters remains insufficient. This study focuses on two main tasks: the development of the control system and the design of the main circuits for high-power frequency converter, on the basis of the development of 6KV high-power frequency converter. The key techniques for the first task include the following aspects: addressing the question of multiple CPU parallel operation through the application of novel model special microprocessor; outputting 30 lines of PWM control signal simultaneously, based on the application of large-scale PLD; transmitting measurement, protection and communication signals through optic fiber communication technique; achieving the intelligent control of HVF by applying embedded software technology and compatible field bus.The key technique in the second task is to test reliability of HVF, including the design and development of three-phase three level rectifier and inverter, using IGBT(IGCT)and perform the stimulation of multi-connection, based on the previously successful application of low voltage frequency convertor. This thesis consists of two sections (parts): the developments of hardware and software of HVF and the simulation of 6KV HVF.
