With the development of computer, communication and network technologies, various information systems based on computers increased and large amount of confidential information was stored on disks in form of electronic documents. The characters of confidential information in expansion and confidentiality make it hard to be completely cleaned, which eventually lead to the information divulgence. Nowadays the battle about acquisition and cleaning of confidential information is becoming much more severe all over the world, and it has been an imminent problem to figure out ways in which divulgence through storage medium is prevented and build information safeguard.This paper aims to realize the detection and reliable clean of confidential information on storage medium. Firstly, the causes and possible positions of confidential information are analyzed and summarized thoroughly in theory. Secondly, the technology of capturing the data on disks deeply is analyzed and realized. And then, this paper analyses the pattern matching technology used in confidential information detecting, improves a kind of multiple patterns matching algorithm and comes up with a model to measure the level of confidentiality, whose results can be used to choose different data overwriting standards. Finally, a reliable erasure system based on confidential information detecting and data overwriting technology is designed and implemented.
