With the development of robot technology, remote control of robot is not only applied in military field, but also in daily life and has an irreplaceable effect in the outer space exploration and dangerous condition working.Well developed Internet is convenient and low price,so the combination of internet and robot technology becomes a hot research subject. Making use of the circumstances in lab, some key problems about remote control of moblile robot is dicussed in this paper.First subject is internet time delay.Since it is the internet but not the personal circuit that is used, time delay problem is unavoidable, how to solve it become very important in romate control. In this paper, based on Ping principle, a program to record the time delay data was developed and the next time delay was predicted by BP neural network using the recorded datas. Control tactics is a problem tightly associated with time delay, after carefully analyzing current tactics, both direct control and supervisory control is used.Second subject is video transmission,including video capture,compression and transmission.The video which shown the information around the robot is captured from a USB camera on the robot using VFW technology, this method is simple and practical.There are so many video compression standard now, considering the practical application, XviD coding of MEPG-4 is selected. Even compressed, the video datas are still very large, so the traditional TCP transmission way is not suitable, the RTP is used for transsmiting the video data instead.Eventually combined all the research findings, the author built a remote control system of mobile robot.
