With the development of image processing technology and the improvement of computer computing speed. Processing speed has been greatly accelerated, making image processing technology in the industrial application also become a reality. This paper focuses on the various image processing methods and the image processing algorithm in the seam tracking.The principle of seam tracking system is capturing the image of welding seam, and conveying the images to image acquisition card through a cable, using the procedures written in VB to accomplish the image processing, find the position of welding seam. Then convey the weld location information be to the plc, control the driven device to achieve the purpose of weld torch tracking.By changing the place of camera, the intensity of adjuvant lamp, the size of welding current and adding filter in the front of camera, analyze the rule of image change, confirms an ideal state finally. This paper introduces the steps of welding seam image recognition; the algorithm of various measures involves image correction, sharpening, and the value of thinning. Introduces the method of image processing algorithm threshold method and the determination of weld extraction in detail, mending the traditional algorithm and gives a new improved formula, the space complexity and time complexity are greatly reduced in new algorithm. Retain more information weld by using the new threshold of image processing algorithm, in favor of seam image recognition.By comparing the treatment effect of different algorithms, ensures an image processing method finally, lays a good foundation for welding seam tracking.
