Multicarrier modulation technology is studied intensively for the high-speed transmission system. Wavelet packet based multicarrier modulation is a technique combining wavelet analysis theory and multicarrier modulation perfectly. It provides high frequency efficiency, better performance against intersymbol interference, intercarrier interference, tone and impulse interference and can transmit multirate symbols easily. Obviously, it is a promising technique nowadays.In this paper performance of different basis in multicarrier modulation (MCM) system over COST207 channels with RS coded and TCM-16QAM modulation is analyzed and Bit error rate(BER) performance is compared. This paper mainly focus on wavelet of dbN,Symlets,Coiflets and double orthogonal. The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the optimal wavelet packet based on the capacity subject to the constraint of the mailable power for the fading channel by maximising the symbol energy in the received signal in both frequency and time.For each part, MATLAB is used to show the performance of the system. The analysis of theory and simulation results indicate the method in this paper can improve efficienty the system performance.
