With the development of network transmission and the popularity of multi-media technology, IPTV is thought to be a Potential service. There is expected high reliable method to solve the problem of IPTV multicast and satisfy its Quality of Service (QoS). MPLS (Multi-protocol Label Switching), which combines L2 switching and L3 routing data transmission using only a certain byte Label in connection mode under connectionless network to make sure the QoS of the IP service, would be an ideal solution. MPLS not only support traffic engineering but also main technology of VPN. So how to realize MPLS Multicast is considered as the key technology of the network system.In this paper, we do some researches on the technology of MPLS multicast and design a solution to solve the problem of IPTV multicast transmission, which is called point-to-multipoint. Firstly, by considering the type of IPTV business, we analyze the demand of carried-grade multicast. Secondly, on the basis of MPLS multicast framework, Multicast traffic engineering (TE) which is perfect fit for IPTV service is proposed, and form point to multipoint label switching solution.How to support P2MP LSP using RSVP protocol is the important in this paper. It is discussed as follows: improve resource reservation protocol (RSVP) in label distribution, from one ingress port to many egress ports, discuss the mechanism of message processing with traffic engineering, propose the method of fast reroute that is a useful method when the failure happens.We use standard C language, implemente RSVP-Te P2MP program, realize P2MP tunnel under MPLS network, implement one signal protocol processes unicast and multicast in MPLS networks, which is integrated development environment of the VxWorks embedded operation system.
