As the development of mobile communication, coverage is becoming more and more important. In this paper we introduce several techniques being used for enhancing wireless network's coverage, and then talk about the repeater, including its structure, key technologies and application environment.Considering of the problems involved in traditional repeater systems, especially the ones brought by the wideband signal of 3G and nonlinearity of power amplifier. In the same time, according to the signal feature, network framework, and frequency band of WCDMA system, we propose a new architecture of repeater system—WCDMA Interference Cancellation System (WICS), which is very effective in eliminating the interference produced by the transmit antenna and equalizing the nonlinearity of PA.After analyzing the structure, function, key units and related technologies, we introduce the simulation structure of WICS, and pay much attention on the simulation methods and parameters of the system. Then we do the simulation according to the requirement and performance criterion, and show the improvement of signal quality introduced by AIC and DPD units through the simulation results, in the same time, lay out the performance of the whole system. The simulation results show that the AIC can effectively eliminate the feedback interference generated by the transmit antenna, the DPD can compensate the nonlinearity of PA, and the WICS is an effective structure to improve the signal quality. All these results above can be strong evidences of the availability of WICS.Last, we introduce the hardware solution of WICS according to its features, functions and simulation results, and explain the key function units and the process of signal processing in the system. Then lay out all the ASIC chips used in the system, introduce their features, functions and the application in the system. In the same time, we configure the chips according to our requirement, and validate the configuration process through the simulation with ISE.Compared with traditional repeater systems, the WICS proposed in this paper eliminate the interference brought by the transmit antenna, compensate the nonlinearity of PA, so avoid the distortion of signal induced by it. All these features referred above make WICS an effective structure to improve the signal quality and network performance, and ensure the reliability and validity of wireless communication.
