On the face of it, free newspaper and traditional newspaper has a common media form and the only difference between them is that one is " free " and another is " not free ". As a matter of fact, the difference in the distribute pattern directly cause the differences on readers' orientation, news editorial business, advertising management and other aspects between them. Therefore, the author believes that free newspapers may be the future of Chinese newspapers. However, it is not the winner within two or several years. We still need to embark on a long and arduous road. We still need the innovator to examine the rational development of the free press and opportunities facing the bottleneck, thinking out the strategic solutions to enable the free newspaper to develop and grow.In this paper, beginning with the sudden appearance of the first "Metro Newspaper" in Nanjing, the author carefully analyzed and detailedly estimated the "Free Newspapers" through text analysis and comparative method and gave us a comprehensive view about this new industry in China, especially about some particular features in edit and management process with her profound knowledge in journalism and translation combined with some inspirations from other fields, such as economics, management and psychology. This paper can be divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, the author gave a broad overview of the "Free Newspaper" in China and other main countries in the world. In the second and third ones, the author summarized the particular features of Chinese Free Newspapers in edit and management process. While in the forth chapter, a unique case about the Newspaper of Oriental Vanguard was carefully analyzed. Moreover, some present problems and future perspectives about the development of Chinese Free Newspapers were discussed in the last chapter.
