In this paper, through analyzing the basic structure of the straight tank bulk cement vehicle and extracting the main structure parameters of the tank, the parameterized model was builded with top-down assembly modeling approach in UG. Secondary development dialog was created by UG development tools UG / Open and Visual C ++ 6.0 to get the structure parameters of the model.It could modify the structure parameters derived from the model, and reach the purpose of quickly generating new model with the required size.Finite element analysis to finite element model was done under four working conditions: deadweight, static with full load, emergency brake and unloading. According to the analysis results, the model structure and part parameters were optimized to improve the press and deformation distribution. By comparing of the analysis results before and after the optimization, the outcome of optimized distribution of stress and deformation conditions, deadweight and tank's volume were far better. With based on knowledge engineering (KBE) was introduced to the design process of straight tank bulk cement vehicle, knowledge base composed of structural parameters, performance parameters and methods of reasoning was established. On the basis of Visual C ++ 6.0 MFC and using SQL Server 2000 to store the knowledge base, the knowledge-based engineering bulk cement vehicle intelligent design system was developed. The system intergrated design, analysis and data management together, and showed how the system worked through a design instance. Introducing knowledge-based engineering to the process of design products, compared to the traditional design method, it greatly improved the design efficiency, reduce the intensity of designer, improve the design quality and shorten the design cycle.
