Using verbal language is the basic way of TV broadcasting. In contrast to the case of silent body language, the verbal language of TV hosts refers to the spoken language, which is the primary means of media and audience communication. Verbal language performs an important role in the host's career, as it transmits media intention,TV column's purpose,the host's self-quality. Therefore, the host's language ability such as skills,expressions,and linguistic charm must be emphasized.The language ability of a host stands for a comprehensive ability, which not only includes loquaciousness and eloquence. The linguistic Mr. Zhang Zhigong says:"A good language expression does not mean loquaciousness or using ornate diction,or humor in Confucius. However the good expression should be spoken in standard language, that is mandarin in China, and achieving the purpose of your speaking appropriately."As a result, the pronunciation is the basic requirement for an host. The key element for broadcasting is"achieving the purpose of your speaking appropriately", that is the also the purpose of media broadcasting. Of course, these requirements could never be satisfied without efforts.In a word, as a TV host, his verbal language and language style should be properly combined.
