In today's PCB manufacturing, plating is used to make all kinds of holes electric. To traditional single or double face PCB, which is usually of low density, DC platting power source is satisfying. But along with the booming of electronic industry, multilayer-PCB is going into applications in many aspects. The vias that connect different lays is becoming smaller, the minimization of electronic components is right under way, and the emergence of micro encapsulation such as BGA (Ball Grid Array),CSP (Chip Scale Package),DCA (Direct Chip Attachment), these all push PCB towards higher density and more layers, which is really a great challenge to traditional DC platting power source.In this paper, a specific pulse platting power source, which is of high frequency and runs in bi-direction, is discussed here to replace traditional DC platting power source for better platting effect and to fulfill the platting need of high density PCB which usually have several layers. This paper delivers in-depth introductions of the theory of pulse platting power source and its predominance, and in turns the need of adoption of this new kind of platting power source in modern industry. At the same time, a brief introduction of DC/DC transducer, including its sorting and structures.As the basis of the theories discussed above, the system design is outspreaded. An ingenious circuit is adopted to achieve the building and switching of high current at a high speed. Users could change the output waveforms at the help of the control system build of a single chip. A rich and colorful human-machine interface is also included in the system, which makes the system very smart and easy to use.Several musters of this product are available, and have been handed to users. Under practical test, the maximum output current is 20A and the minimum pulse width is 0.1ms, which fully achieve clients' demands.
