With the development of technology, multimedia information has been becoming a necessary part of people's life. Planar multimedia information can not meet people's needs day by day. So, the study and application of stereoscopic image have become more and more emergently. With the development of digital image processing and the emerging of high performance and low power processors, the systems which processing stereoscopic image have become feasible. The paper is based on this background, depending on the high performance processor, bring out a design and resolve schemes of stereoscopic image display system of high resolution, which would supply a high performance display platform for future study. Also, the paper proposed a framework and design scheme of the video capturing system that based on DM6446. And the system can capture and display the image data in real-time. The video capturing system makes the functions of the multimedia processing system more powerful.Dual core processor, DM6446 is used as the processing platform in the system. It supplies image processing and display interface through Video Processing Back End (VPBE).And it connects LCD display device through DVI connecting standard. In video capturing system, DM6446 receives image data that captured by sensor OV9650 through its Video Processing Front-End (VPFE) module. And it connects OV9650's control interface through I2C bus. Linux is installed as the operating system. LCD display driver based on Linux is designed. Video capturing driver V4L2 and I2C device driver which based on DM6446 processor are also developed. In order to make the system work steadily, various applications in user space are developed.The experiment shows that, through hardware design and program optimizing, the high resolution stereoscopic image display system can work steadily. In the video capturing system, it can capture image data in real-time and continuously, in the resolution of 1208×1024, 15 fps. Also, the captured image data can be displayed on LCD device in real-time or can be stored in storage devices, i.e. hard disk.
