Virtual Organization is a hot issue received extensive attention in recent years, its success has been recognized by most people. However, in the process of building virtual organization, there existed a problem when people were exploring how to create and manage a virtual organizations or tried to make organizations in reality change into virtual organizations, they would encounter a series of problems, people unabled to establish an ideal Virtual Organization, or that the organizations were virtual organizations according to some classic definition. Therefore, the virtual organization should not be regarded as a different kind of organizational structure, but should be seen as a strategy suited to each organization. For individual organizations, which must be with a degree of virtualization, as a result, individual organization should implement organization virtualization from the dynamic construction of virtual organization point of view.In this paper, we discussed the related theories of organization virtualization and studied on the process, mechanism and evaluation of organization virtualization systematically. Firstly, the basic theoretical frameworks of organization virtualization were constructed and the theories of organization virtualization and virtual organization were proposed, which is been as a theoretical basis for further in-depth study. Secondly, the two structure of members and relations of virtual organization was defined and pointed out misunderstandings of traditional study on organization virtualization process. Three related models were recommended and the inadequacies of those were showed clearly. On this basis, "two-dimension" model of organization virtualization was proposed by organization internal operation virtualization and organization external cooperation virtualization. Thirdly, The mechanism of organization virtualization that is realized in the course of constantly involving in the life cycle of virtual organization was analyzed and explained by the core competence and business exit theory. Then,the concept of the degree of virtualization was introduced. The corresponding evaluation model was established and an empirical study was made. Finally, the present development of organization virtualization was analyzed within china virtual enterprises and the problems that existed were summed up, the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions were put forward.This paper focused on the integration of theoretical research and empirical study, stressed the importance of practical applications, which provide a theoretical and practical support for theoretical research and the business applications of organization virtualization.
