Eddy current sensor (ECS) is described which operates on the principle of induction of eddy currents. It can be used to measure the parameters of displacement, swing, thickness and crack through converting these parameters into electrical parameters. Because it has the advantage of wide linearity, simple structure, not easy to be contaminated by oil-liked medium over other sensors so it is widely applied to the field of measurement. Sensor is the core component in the measuring systems, and its accuracy play a decisive role in the performance of measuring systems.A static calibration system for eddy current sensor based on C8051F060 is presented aimed at treating the problems of traditional one such as inevitably artificial error, failure of acquiring full curves and the zero position, which are resulted from manual acquiring the displacement and output voltage signal for examining and calibration of the electric eddy current sensor before their leaving factories. The system is consist of down-level machine, up-level machine, static calibrating experiment table, stepper motor and printer. The program of down-level machine is developed by assembly language and the applied program of up-level machine is realized by VB. The hardware circuit and the flow chart of software program are also provided here. Compared with the traditional manual method, this system has the advantage of high precision, simple structure and easy operation. The practical results show that the system is reliable, and the accuracy and stability satisfy the project demand.
