In the automated assembly line of coiling system, the quality or standard of the final products would have been directly impacted by the unjustified edge of the roll folding material. The deviation would result in economic losses if we do not take measures in time. For example, in the production of steel strip, paper tape or plastic film, the material must be rolled up or be rolled out, some deviation of coil strip may be occurred owing to it couldn't maintain the straight line movement, which may be aroused by a preliminary volume ataxia or anomalous expands and lopsided tensility or transmission system's vibration etc. So we need a device which can detect the deviation and control it automatically.For the deviation of coil strip, we contrive a device to detect and control the edge deviation based on linear CCD. It takes C8051F040 as the core controller and takes CCD as a position sensor to detect the edge position of strip. C8051F040 computes the displacement from current position to baseline by applying a strategy of Fuzzy-PID control arithmetic of on-off switch, then control the executive mechanism to decrease the displacement reversely.First, in this article, we bring forward a whole system scheme of edge position detection and control based on linear CCD. The whole scheme includes detecting module, data processing module, executive mechanism modulem, etc. Then this system implements the function of edge position detection and control on the basis of these mentioned above. Finally, the system is tested repetitiously. The result shows this system has high actual application value for its good performance, high detection accuracy, facility use and friendly interface.
