As one of the explosive magnetic flux compression generator, the flux compression generator with coaxial initiation (CFCG) has some advantages such as high initial inductance, driving high impedance load, short output pulse, simple structure, stable and reliable operation, better working with pulse power device, advancing its efficiency and so on. So, the CFCG is one of the main candidates in the magnetic flux compression generators research. The principle of the CFCG is that when the detonator drives the armature compressing magnetic field, the chemical energy changes into electromagnetic energy. Simultaneity, the current and energy of the load are magnified. Some basic theoretical and experimental work is carried out on the construction and operation performance of the CFCG in this thesis. The theory models and running parameter of the CFCG are preliminarily analyzed. Future practical device design could be based on the results. Then, based on the configuration of the CFCG, the operation performances of it are analyzed. The results indicate that the key theory models are as follows: the distributing of the magnetic field inside the device, force balance of armature, the equivalent circuit model and others. Base on the models above, two-dimensional digital simulation for the CFCG is established. It is used to simulate the domestic device, and the result basically proves the program is right. Using the program, a kind of CFCG is designed: left radius 52mm, right radius 60mm, effective length 104mm.Some experiments of the CFCG are carried out on the inductance load. The results show: when input current is 5kA, the output current of the load is 14.4kA, the pulse rising time is 10.6μs. The results of theoretic analyses and experiments are basically consistent, and the error is under acceptable range. Furthermore, it again proves the two-dimensional digital simulation can be believed.
