Applications of streaming media have been more popular as the rapid development of internet, e.g., distance teaching, video conference, live broadcast on net, etc, which present the primary features of streaming media information, such as huge data size, high quality, real-time and fluency. Deeply researching on P2P technology has provided new space for applications of streaming media. Importing P2P technology into data transmission of streaming media leads to P2P streaming media technology.This research mainly focused on P2P transmission strategy of streaming media data, and put forward a"Merging"model with less delay in single data packet transmission, author also improved this model in multiple data packets transmission. Compared with"Binary Tree"model, the advantages of"Merging"model include less delay, high utilization of resources while transmitting data with certain size. This research based on applications of streaming media in distance teaching. During the author's work, a distance teaching video/audio communication system based on B/S by Flash Media Server had been built. People can make teaching activities long distance with this system using computer, camera, earphone and microphone.
