Music-driven Motion Choreography Base On Mocap Database

Animation and game creating are two hot spots of the digital entertainment area. Sometimes when creating animations and games, it is necessary to create motions for actors or characters that are in harmony with background music. To meet the requirement of harmony, it would be quite a time-consuming task if the animator just start from scratch and produce motion using key-frame animation or some other technique manually.This paper presents a music-driven motion choreograph system. Users just need to input background music and select a group of motion data from the motion database as original motion, the system will synthesize motion data according to the rhythm of the input music. The newly build motion data will be shown for adjustments and refinements before final result is formed.The beginning of this paper, the framework of the system is shown.In Chapter 3, the characteristics of music and music beats extraction is discussed. A beat extracting algorithm is presented with a beat-align method.Chapter 4 is on motion analysis and motion beat extraction. After beat extraction, motions are split into little pieces, then organized into a motion graph. Some optimization is done on the motion graph.In Chapter 5, the motion synthesis process base on result of two former chapters is introduced. The system travels on the motion graph according to beat extraction result, then the path of travel is convert into motion data in the end.In Chapter 6, the implement of the system is shown.The last chapter discuss future work.
