In this paper, the theory and experiment of xenon lamp pumped Nd:YAG red laser are studied. Plat-plat cavity is selected as a resonant cavity.Firstly, the optical spectrum characteristics of Nd:YAG crystal are analysed. Coated lens express 1064nm spectral line and realize the output of 1319nm laser.Through the theory analysis, LN is chosen as Q-switch crystal and magnitude of voltage is estimated. In addition, the phase-matching angle of KTP crystal for frequency-doubling at 1319nm is studied. So we calculated the best phase-matching angle according to the Sellemier equations of KTP, the result isθ=59.8°,φ=0°. This study is the base to obtain red laser.Finaly, red laser is established. The characters of laser is studied in experiments. Relative parameters are measured and the corresponding experiment results are analyzied. The merits and drawbacks of system are summarized.
