This article mainly designed the system of compression and decompression based on DSP and the wavelet transform technique. Wavelet Transform is a new image processing technology, its energy concentrated in the transform domain and we can get a high compression radio under the subjective and objective good evaluation.The System contains two parts: compression and solution compression. Selects TI Corporation TMS320VC5402 to do primarily controls the chip, the compression and solution compression complete by the chip ADV611 which base on wavelet with double orthogonal(7,9) change. The part of the compression, the TMS320VC5402 completed quantification band width computation of each MALLAT blocks; data transfer and control the other devices. The same operate at the decompression.This completed the compression and decompression hardware circuit design, and gives TMS320VC5402 software design process. System full use of the visual characteristics of the human eye to reduce intra-and inter-frame redundant information, it can eliminate the box effect in the traditional image coding and the phenomenon of mosquitoes effects of high compression ratio and achieve high-quality image coding.
