Research And Implementation Of A Ontology Conversion Based On RDF

A big flaw of World-Wide-Web is that it doesn't provide enough semantic information about web resources. Computers cannot understand what the information mean. This is why the architecture of World-Wide-Web is transforming to semantic web. In 2000, W3C proposed the semantic web as the next generation of WWW. Resource Description Framework (RDF) plays an important role in semantic web. The goal of RDF is to implementing semantic description of web resources. We have done a lot of research on the semantic web and ontology, after the research of the knowledge models of Protégéand RDF, proposed an ontology conversion mechanism. This mechanism will convert the ontology which is builded by Protégéto the ontology which is described by RDF. The main contributions are summarized as follows:We have studied the semantic web and ontology, analyzing the several commonly used languages for describing ontology and tools for building ontology, choose the Protégéfor research;We have studied the Knowledge, Knowledge Model and frame. We have done a lot of research on the file which is created by Protégéand the syntax of RDF and proposed a framework to convert the ontology which is described by Protégéto the RDF;At last, we have developed a prototype system based on the framework. The system contains composed of ontology parser, conversion, file control unit and etc.We have developed an ontology conversion system expect to convert an ontology which is used in a system for degree paper's service to an ontology which is described by RDF language. We use the converted ontology in a semantic query system.
