In future, the special optical fiber must will be largely used in fiber communication systems and fiber sensing systems, while the technology of fiber alignment and cores alignment is the key to put the special optical fiber into practice. In this paper, we do research on the system of fiber alignment and cores alignment for the special optical fiber.The image of the three-core fiber is simulated in computer by BamPROP. This software is based on the finite difference beam propagation method (FD-BPM). Based on the simulation data, we observe the image characters, and get the eigenvalue curves of the angle by methods of the light intensity center and four character points. The eigenvalue curves have high sensitivity to the angle.We built experiment float, and get the images of the three-core fiber on this experiment float. We analyze the characters of images and calculate the eigenvalue curves of the angle by the method of the light intensity center combined with image processing techniques. By experiments, we prove that the image processing techniques can minish the noise and improve the precision of the fiber and cores alignment.
