Today, more and more people pay attention to the problem of GIS data sharing. Although the technology of geographic information had been well developed, the problem, as named GIS Information Island, hasn't been resolved so far. The main reason is that the software environments where the GIS resource exists are heterogeneous. It is hard to fulfill the interoperability in these environments. Although the distributed object technology and Web technology can partly meet people's requirement of GIS data sharing, their architectures make themselves hard to equally share the data resource among the independent organizations.The appearance of Grid and continuous development of CSCW(Computer Supported Cooperative Work) bring a new opportunity for intelligent sharing and collaboration of GIS data. Therefore, inspired by these three technologies, CoGIS(Grid-based Collaborative Geographic Information Plotting System) intends to organize various heterogeneous resources by collaborative platform and provides a cooperative environment for distributed users.The paper first introduces plotting and editing conceptions, and briefly summarizes properties and characteristics of MapXtreme platform. Then it mostly introduces concurrency control mechanism of CoGIS, including collaborative management, frame of collaboration control, concurrency control,"late comer"problem, record management, collaboration plotting and collaboration awareness. Finally it describes accomplishment and test of plotting, editing and control functions. The experiment shows that CoGIS can provide better collaborative effect. |
