Visualization of laser propagation is very important to the research of laser technology. Bases on Virtual Reality technology and combines with Visual Simulation, it first constructs the laser prototype and makes some optimization, and then the virtual simulation scene was built. According to characters of laser and its spatial propagation identity, bases on entity stream technique and particle system technique, and combines with texture mapping and billboard technique, and then it accomplishes visualization and simulation of laser. Bases on physical data that obtained from background database synchronously, it accomplishes physical law based laser propagation modeling and makes visualization modeling of its trail.It then analyzes the key features of real-time simulation in virtual scene. Mainly bases on Vega, and combines with Game Engine, it gives a design scheme that bases on MFC\Vega to carry out the real-time simulation and visualization. It proposes a General Bounding Box (GBB) concept, which makes the basic interactive operation in this virtual simulation system become feasible and easily. Based on GBB, it accomplishes collision detecting, model picking, etc. Bases on a physical data drive simulation mechanic, while the data obtained from background laser propagation calculation software that runs simultaneously, it realizes the monitoring of key optical apparatus work stat. Bases on database technology, it accomplishes output and inquiry of simulation information in real-time. Combines with OpenGL, Matlab, ADO, it accomplishes the 3D visualization of the virtual scene.Finally, after detailed function analyzes, according to design purpose, it designs the layout of the visualization and simulation system. The system was divided into several models, such as mode building model, scene driving model, apparatus monitoring model, information process model, database management model and 3D displaying model, and then all were implemented. Finally the visual laser propagation simulation system was developed. It presents the functions of the platform that has been designed and its prospect of application in future. The construction of this simulation system will provide a simulation platform for the research of laser propagation, and it can used as a tool to verify, simulate, display and train in laser research field.
