The Research And Implementation Of Host System Management Interface Based On Web Services Distributed Management

With the development of network technology, the functions of network management system are also on the rise. The fact is that network management system need to manage not only the running status but also the resources of each host, such as processes, services and memories. So it is true that the network management system is experiencing from network management to system management, and host management system is a typical production during the process. Different from the regulars, host management system must resolve not only the host itself but also a lot of disadvantages, such as the complication of management methods, the large-scale network, the distribution of management functions and the diversification of users. Specially, the complication of management methods is an outstanding issue, and management integration is deemed to an effective way to solve the problem. But unfortunately, current standards, for example SNMP, WBEM and so on, can not support management integration effectively.WSDM (Web Services Distributed Management) is a special standard for distributed management integration, so it was introduced to host management system in this thesis. We studied the compositon and characteristics of WSDM, designed and realized a model of host system management interface, then analyzed the relationship and effect of the model roles. The main contents of this dissertation are as follows:Firstly, the structure and characteristics of WSDM were studied, as well as the relationship between WSDM and other WS (Web Services) standards.A model of host management interface based on WSDM was designed. Rationality and feasibility of the model were approved in theories and practice.Secondly, the effect of host interfaces was analyzed upon an introduced network model, which can be applied in changing networks. It is proved that the model of host management interface based on WSDM is not only a way to solve problems in host system management, but also an illumination for enterprise system integration.Thirdly, the model of host management interface based on WSDM was implemented with three kinds of granularities: thick, thin and mixed. They were compared with each other on the complexity of implementation and the use amount of network and system resources. It is indicated that mixed granularities is better than the other two, and the selection of granularity in the implementation of host interface must according to the characteristics of resource itself and the requirements of users.Finally, two host system interface respectively based on SNMP standard and based on WSDM standard were analyzed and compared, considering the qualitative and quantitative aspects. The results shows that WSDM is superior to SNMP standard in the integrated network management system, and further confirmed the WSDM is an benefit standard used in the current and future management of distributed systems integration.
