An automatic weather station is a kind of device which is able to collect, process, store and transmit meteorological information automatically, meteorological information should be transmitted timely, speedily and accurately to the application department. The information is usually transmitted in two ways, wireless and wired communication. Nowadays, the common way is wired communication. However, wired data transmission has shortcomings of high price, difficult to maintain, and low efficiency, it is unable to meet demand of automatic weather station. With the development of wireless communication technology, a variety of wireless transmitting technology has been applied to all professions, among which, GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) develops quickly, and is gradually being applied widely for its characterizes of low velocity, fast and permanent online etc.The thesis researches theory of wireless automatic weather station, designs data-transmit system of automatic weather station based on GPRS. Analysis the program of forming network, and chooses the right program of forming network according to the actual situation, realizes wireless connection of micro-controller to Internet for weather data transition.The system uses the 32-bit high-performance ARM microprocessor LPC2114 as hardware core, the BENQ M23 as GPRS module, the embedded real-time operating systemμC/OS- II for the software platform, the ARM ADS1.2 for system software development environment. Through designing the data terminal hardware and software, realizes connection between terminals and super ordination PC, and solves the problem of network connection, network detection, receiving and sending data successfully. Super ordination PC designs communication software and meteorological database, completes communication with terminal, and achieves storage and query of data. The issue has been tested by concrete experiment, making the various function indexes meet the demand of system. System realizes the remote meteorological data transmission successfully, provides a new and reliable wireless transmission mode.
