In the 21st century, the rapid development of computer technology and Internet technology is changing our educational methods and learning style. A growing number of instructors recognize that educational technology will be the top point of education. They are exploring how to integrate educational thinking and technology, classroom teaching and Internet-based online learning to make an optimal studying. Because our actual educational situation, there is a bottleneck: the educational fund is limited, how to use the limited funds to construct a powerful online course management system.In recent years, more and more people are beginning to pay attention to open-source software. It is said that open-source software is influencing and changing our traditional mode of software development. In many foreign countries, government agencies, corporate users and personal users are using open-source software for informational services. They get the benefit from the open-source software just like Linux, Apache and so on. Therefore in this paper, author introduced the course management system– Moodle based on LAMP, a set of open-source system solutions. Since the educational fund gap between China's eastern and western is larger, using free and open-source software will narrow digital divide between the east and west China, the urban and rural education.It is said that a good course management system is not necessarily to highlight its technical characteristics, but need to integrate our thinking of education. The teaching and learning ideologies in the Moodle specially the social constructivism are important to us for student-centered, teacher-led double main teaching.Author use the chapter of liquid surface tension coefficient in the university's physics experiments as an example, designed its online courses as the basis of research to analysis Moodle's source code, database, the basic framework, programming ideas and the development of basic principles for Moodle. With these basic understandings of Moodle, we can make the Moodle extension development, because we have the power to access and modify the source code. The author gives two examples to discuss how to build a suitable development and testing environment, the basic steps and the basic idea for extension development, to expand to other open-source software based on LAMP for a pattern of development. We'd better make us from Moodle user into Moodle contributor to promote the development of the open source community, as well as to make Moodle more suitable for our education.Completion of this research projects is not only good for the educators to create the online course for a hybrid teaching, but also for Moodle's extension development. Finally, let our educator pay attending to open -source software, use and develop them then re-release some suitable open-source system for our education.
