This thesis mainly focuses on using the advanced receiver instead of RAKE receiver in WCDMA uplink in the radio access.RAKE receiver makes itself a good receiver of WCDMA system because of its simple structure and easy realization. HSPA+ will use 16QAM in the uplink, and the ISI due to the multi-path will be very severe, so the RAKE receiver cannot be used. The thesis introduces to use the equalizer to improve the RAKE because it cannot suppress the multi-path interference; it has important practical meaning and value.The thesis mainly studies the influence to the system after 16QAM is introduced. Three equalizers are researched based on the traditional RAKE receiver: LMMSE, multi-path cancellation and G-RAKE. It researches the key algorithm and verifies their performance in the WCDMA simulation chain. The thesis improves the G-RAKE algorithm of Ericsson and gets good results. At last based on the analysis of the performance and algorithm complexity, it recommends using LMMSE as the best receiver in the WCDMA uplink.
