In the light of recent developments of electronics information technology, communication business, especially the communication software business, has a rapid growth. Software has already become a growth point of the communication industry. It also makes the products increase in value. Communication business has some features, such as high reliability and stability, combining with hardware tightly. So it is necessary to research the test technology for communication software test in terms of its features. It can promote the communication software test, guarantee software quality and increase productivity of software.Instrumentation and test case production are two key technologies in both the structured test and automation structured test. Instrumentation can be used for analyzing the relationships between functions and the path after the procedures executed. The method for making test case is one of the hot spot of software testing. There are many ways that have been discussed to make test case. It is the point of departure of this paper that though discussing these two technologies, making it applies to the testing in communication software, and increasing of efficiency of communication software production and the quality of them.Based on the software testing related technology research, combining with the program structure analysis method by the graph theory, this paper discussed a new type of software testing methods. The method is based on the procedures pathway information, and then generate test case with the border domain information and the implementation state information according to the pathway information. In addition, this paper also do a deep study in the instrumentation technology, mainly focused on the pretreatment for the source code, the choice of the instrumentation points, and the design of the instrumentation function. Finally, this paper also given the detail designs for a C language instrumentation's, mainly on the data structure and module data flow, and done a simple realization.
