The research on flight simulator will be useful to increase the level and efficiency of pilot training, while it can reduce the cost of pilot training. The instruments in the flight simulator are import equipments when simulating practical flight. The paper studied one type altitude instrument control system with its hardware and software being presented. Then, the altitude instrument that can satisfy the function of the meter was realized.The paper is composed of three parts. Firstly, it analyzed composing and working principal of each part of the altitude instrument. According to the performance requirement, the stepper motors is selected as drivers of the system. It computed the load of the altitude instrument system. A feasible scheme is proposed to implement the altitude instrument control system.The second part designed the hardware of the altitude instrument control system. The hardware design used the modularized design. The electric circuit of the altitude instrument control system was composed of the micro-controller module, the serial communication module, the stepper motor drive module, the photo-electric encoder decode module, the switch control module and the zero saving module. The micro-controller TMS320F2407 is the core of the altitude instrument control system.The third part designed the altitude instrument control system software and the altitude instrument control computer software with Visual C++, according to the analysis of the above two parts.This paper used the object-oriented program language VC++, guided by the object-oriented design method, finish all the software design. Finally, the installed altitude instrument passed system test.New altitude instrument control system has the following advantagcs: no jumpiness on low speed, no twitter on high speed, low noises on high speed, etc. Ithas the following functions: self-check, needle returning zero, needle pointing exactly, etc.
