Component-based modeling method is considered to be an effective solution to the problem which arises from the scale and complexity of the simulation system. It can improve the design and implementing process of the entire simulation system's model and it can avoid much duplication of development work. At the end of 20th century, visual component-based development tools appeared. The emergence of these tools makes the simulation process based on visual component possible, and it also indicates the direction of the simulation development in the future. However, visual component-based development tools appeared late, it mainly relies on traditional component techniques and modeling experiences to implement the computer model based on visual component. It lacks the standardized method. The emergency of modules' storehouse and components' storehouse which is contained in visual simulation software makes the traditional reusability measure model of component inefficient. Therefore, it is very necessary to perfect the simulation method based on visual component.Doing research on the component theory, system simulation methods and a variety of visual simulation software's characteristics, this paper summarizes and improves the general implementing principles,steps and method of computer model based on visual component. It proposes the measures which embed a high-level language to reduce the model's complexity, it establishes the reusability measure models of component which can be applied for the modeling environment based on visual components and gives the example of these rules and tools' application in the modeling process. Work done by this paper is as follows:(1)It indicates the division basis of component scale and puts the definite method of component function into the definite process of the visual simulation component. It proposes concrete method which makes the component as parameter, and it also points out the explicit steps to implement the visual component model.(2)It studies the modeling characteristic in the visual simulation environment, and it also proposes modeling method based on visual component can use high-level language such as VBA to overcome the model's shortcoming, that is model's capability of logic control is not good. This kind of model can further reduce model's complexity.(3)Using the questionnaire survey and qualification method based on scale, it establishes the relationship between the complexity of module's configuration and quantity of module's parameters.(4)It does research on the existing reusability measure models of component. it establishes the complexity measure model based on the types of modules,numbers of the modules and complexity of modules' configuration, and it also set up the reuse effect measure model based on the difficulties of reusability and feedback. At last, it combines these two models into the reusability measure model of visual component, which uses the complexity and effect as adjusting factors.(5)Taking the Dayaowan container dump site as the background, using Arena Template as the tool, it has established visual simulation component of dump site, and measures the component using the reusability measure model. Finally it sets up the simulation model of the container dump site based on visual component.In this paper, the work can enhance modeling efficiency, reducing model complexity and provides guidance for the component's reasonable reusability.
