With the fast development of Internet, issue of network security is becoming increasingly serious with yearly growing security events, booming particularly in recent years. Internet worm has become one of the major threats to Internet for the sake of its severe destructive impact, large invasive scale and rapid pervasive speed. Therefore, it is pressing to hamper Internet worm's prevalence in network.Nowadays, widely used Internet builds on the basis of IPv4 protocol, traditional worm only infects the host in IPv4 network environment. But with the increasing improvement of network, IPv4's 32-bit address can not cater to people's need, IPv6 protocol emerged which is more advanced and has larger address space and after several years research its technology has becoming more and more mature, the developing trend of Internet is that IPv6 must replace IPv4.At present, the research of network worm has generated academic world's attention. In order to impede the worm virus outbreak, the research of worm propagation ways'influence is needed aiming at restraining network worm propagation and destruction. However, in present Internet environment, general research just is executed in IPv4 environment. So this thesis researched network worm in IPv6 environment more deeply. The main work of the thesis is divided into as follows four greatly portions:Portion 1 generalizes and analyzed network worm's function mechanism and propagation model. The thesis analyzed network worm's characteristics from other malice code and studied basic worm propagation model in some aspects such as scanning model, scanning strategy, attacking methods and so on. These provided theoretic basis for the further research of network worm.Portion 2 researched how IPv6 network environment affects worm. In IPv6 network huge address space, traditional random scanning worm is hard to discover other host address but the worm designed for IPv6 network can obtain other host's information in the network. For the purpose of further research of worm propagation strategy in IPv6 environment, the thesis devised a kind of new worm which aims at IPv6 network: IPv6-Worm, designed its propagation model.Portion 3 executed IPv6-Worm model emulation experiment. In SSFNet platform, carried out concrete experiments and then compared the experimental result to RedCode worm in IPv4 network. The experiment conclusion is IPv6 network can not prevent the propagation of worm, in special situation the worm propagation will be faster and more efficient.Portion 4 researched worm control strategies in IPv6 environment. By analyzing worm propagation ways in IPv6 environment, the thesis supposed two worm control strategies, and carried on emulation experiments in regard to IPv6-Worm added control strategies. The experiment result demonstrated that the control strategies can efficiently prevent worm from spreading rapidly.
