While the information technology develops, new media such as digital newspapers, digital magazines, Internet and mobile TV are emerging. As a result, the demand of the informationalization for traditional media does not limit to Internel informationalization. The paper proposes the informationalization should be divided into two parts: the internal and external informationalization. The internal informationalization concentrates on the productivity while the external one expands the channels for information delivering. The combination of internal and external informationalizations is the key to achieve success for traditional media during the informationalization process. The emphasis of informationalization varies in different phases, and depends on the quality of the recognition of the need of the changing market and long term strategy of the media.The paper mainly applies the qualitative investigation, with some approaches such as second-hand data, case study and so on. The discussion of informationalization focuses on three aspects: what the informationalization like for traditional media, what the needof informationalization is, and how the informationalization proceeds. During the discussion, a requirement analysis model based on environmental analysis, and a method to make informationalization decision are established.
