Since the 1980s, "the non-linear storm" has rolled up the realm of science and become one focus of the contemporary science research rapidly while showing the direction of the science in the future. As one kind of non-linear science, the complexity science focuses on the birth, evolution of huge system and pushes system science up to a brand-new stage. Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory that was brought forward by the scientists working in Santa Fe Institute (SFI) is one kind of the complexity theory. Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory embarks from the biological evolved rule and researches on origin of complex system to make microscopic and the macrocosm related using the Adaptive Agent. The theory's proposing has provided the new mentality for the people to understand complex system and to control it. It has been applied and validated in many social sciences domains as well as in natural sciences domains.The education system is one kind of complex system in human society. Instructional design based on system theory is a practice domain in education science. Instruction system is complex and opening system which is composed of teachers, students, and media and so on, so it has nature of the complexity. Researching a model of instructional design based on Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory to meet request is an important subject.The article refers a lot of articles and materials about systems science, Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory, learning theory, instructional design theory. Based on analysis about history present situation of instructional design, the article pointed out problems instructional design faces. Then found out causation and applied Complex Adaptive System (CAS) theory to instructional design. In order to break through the limitation of the current instructional design, it has constructed model of instructional design accordingly. It provides a view for instructional design and a better solution to instruction, so it has certain significance to instruction practice.
