With the rapid development of Internet,more and more problem forces people to show solicitude for network bandwidth measurement.Bandwidth measures is very important research direction,The network bandwidth can give many quantitative metrics reflecting operation status of IP network,revealing upgrade or degrade of network performance,and discovering network exception in time.Meanwhile,for all kinds of protocol and application, Study bandwidth measures technology and algorithm is rather important for the development of network,the bandwidth utility,the route choice,the capability of network,to know the current situation of bandwidth of network,and measure bandwidth of the network correctly. But,with the network complicated degree increasing,that the accurate network bandwidth is measured sometimes is very difficult.The paper firstly does some researches for the single packet,packets pair,multi-packets models of the measurement of bandwidth,as well as their working theory and characteristics. Also,the author points out the disadvantages of measuring algorithm.And then,base on the algorithm of packets pair to bandwidth measurement and the characteristics of the flow label on IPv6 header,the paper gives one ameliorating algorithm which based on different size of packets pair.Meanwhile,we give to a calculation formula,which can calculate each bandwidth of path.The improved algorithm has several advantages as follows:the number of sending detect grouping is decrease;the affect of queue data packets is lighten;the effect of link layers to measurement of the bandwidth of the network is eliminate and so on.The another important work of the paper is gives a design and implementation of bandwidth measurement of IPv6 network,and propose creatively to realize the strict path control of the algorithm measurement of packets pair when measuring by making use of the flow label of IPv6 header.We built an IPv6 test network in the laboratory,In the sources,we made use of Fluke OPV-PE software and Fluke OPV-LA to generate different size probe packets,which flow label were changed according with our request.And then,we record the time interval when probe packets reached the destination.By ICMPv6 return the data,which including packets size and reach time.We gain a data by Winpcap programming interface and calculate the each link of bandwidth by our algorithm.Finally,the verification of the algorithm improvement is realized by using to professional network simulation software NS2 and proved the superiority of the improved algorithm.
