Survey and criticize the feminine periodicals in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China from 1840 to 1919, with investigation, document survey, contrast, individual case analysis. And supply historical and theoretical foundation for modern feminine periodicals and journalism and communication from the view of feminism. The result indicates: the periodical publications which founded by the Christian missionaries paid full attention and deep concern on Chinese women, and the extreme journalism discourse pattern has been established. All of these have given a consulting frame for feminine periodicals. Feminine culture which came in through Japan promoted Chinese women's education and feminism movement, and formed a typical Chinese medium mechanical and discourse system of feminine periodicals. Women's World is one of the representative feminine periodicals with its long term publication, and obvious influence on society. And its editorial idea choice, content and form choice and circulation choice were contained by national revolution and mainstream discourse system, and then the national ideological trend and family idea came out and became the subject of cultural control gradually by periodicals interfering into and concerning on. Female-hero QiuJin founded her Chinese Women and announced to devote to women's individual right and political pursuit, while it bent to masculine authority and tradition. The result asserts that, as the most important medium pattern of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, feminine periodicals demolished and re-constructed the whole society trend and feminine culture under traditional culture, the initiative feminism idea and national ideological trend. The crises are: the general revolution discourse has dispelled the communication pattern, and made it bent to patriarchy and monarchy, on the other hand, the feminine periodicals went too far on feminism due to the extreme journalism discourse theory. The two greatly influenced modern feminine periodicals to be hesitating over male-dominated gender view and fall into consumism and commoditing of female gender.
