Along with the development of the network and the exploiture of the network information resources, Webometrics is rising. As a new and applied science, Webometrics' discipline nature and characteristic determines that empirical study plays a important role in it. As one of the important research themes of the dynamic laws in Webometrics, the growth law of the web information is still at the stage of exploring and there's wide discovery space. Therefore, the thesis launches a series of empirical studies on the growth law of web information. It is of important theory meanings and realistic meanings.Based on Webometrics, the thesis uses the relevant experience in Bibliometrics, Scientometrics and Informetrics for reference, launches the empirical study on the growth law of web information. In detail, firstly, it summarizes the foundation of the thesis, that is, background, significance, current research, thinking of research and research procedure, research range and main concepts. Then, constructs the samples of studying for different structures(pages, sites, domains) and time units(week, month, half a year, year) separately, does correlation analysis, curve fitting, statistical and theoretical tests. Thirdly, reveals the general growth law of web information: During a period of enough long time, the amount of web information is as time goes on, commonly subjected to many Logistic curves which realizes ladder-typed growth. Finally, points out the lack of the thesis, puts forward the research direction of the subject in future.
