Study Of Electronic Program Guide In IPTV

With the development of computer and Internet communication technology, IPTV, Internet Protocol TV or Interactive Person TV is growing fast and now is becoming a hotspot in the broadband multimedia field. Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is an important component of IPTV system. It provides a good navigation mechanism for users enjoying the television or multimedia programs and a convenient operation platform for IPTV information service. Therefore, EPG is seemed like a door which user accessing the IPTV system.This paper researches on the design of EPG in IPTV system. Firstly, it gives an overview of the components and deployment of IPTV system. Secondly, a comprehensive analysis of EPG is discussed, including EPG's function, structure, workflow, key technology and so on. Then, according to the IPTV service demands and actual project requirements, the architecture design of EPG in IPTV system is discussed in detail.The EPG system is composite of four layers: web page display layer, request and response layer, business logic layer and application layer. The layers cooperate with each other to fulfill the system requirements. This design not only makes the whole system structure clear and easy to extend, but also reduces the follow-up system integration and new business development cycle. Finally, the article focuses on the request and response layer's parameter maintain manager, and gives a deep analysis for business logic layer and application layer which are the key modules of EPGThis project has been proved practical in practice. The function of EPG has been staified and the design is proved to be applicable.
