The VPN technologies based on the SSL protocol has fast developed at recent years with the advantage of easy to use, low cost and perfect security access control mechanism. With analyzing the principle and application advantage of SSL VPN,this paper introduces the trend that CPU is developing from Single core to Multicore and the architecture of MIPS, points out the issue that SSL VPN uses up a great deal of CPU resource and affects system performance when realizing protocol conversion and security access control in application layer.Base on the realizing of SSL VPN on Single core CPU platform,author studies the hardware configuration,package process flow and parallel program on MIPS 64 bit Octeon Multicore CPU.Finally,the high performance SSL VPN was fulfilled on Octeon embedded platform through useing MIPS Multicore architecture,integratesed hardware secure accelerating cell and parallel program.The contrast test result between Multicore CPU platform and X86 set platform shows that the former is ten times than the latter and indicates that Multicore CPU can overcome the Single core CPU's bottleneck in the development of SSL VPN technology to attain the expectant aim.
