The technology-supported Automation has three aspects which are playing great important roles in the field of industrial automation,those are,PLC(Programmable Logic Controller), Robots and CAD/CAM. Presently, the design, the development and the utilization of industrial robots have already gained ground; moreover, the drive of AC servocontrol has always been used to be the driver, the embedded controllers based on PC or DSP have been introduced also.But along with the rapid development of PLC technology, especially the enhancement of motion control and network, the control of robot based on PLC has already carried out. Consequently, it is very necessary to do some research on the industrial robot system based on PLC control for the realization of those motion controls.The integral structure and overall design of robot are analyzed firstly and complete the configuration design. Then, the characteristics of the drivers of the servocontrol system and the robot are explained, the digital AC servocontrol system is adopted in the robot's driver, and the choose of the servo-electromotors and the drivers is finished.Then, after analyzing the controllers of industrial robots, why we decided to choose the A-B PLC is demonstrated and the A-B PLC ControlLogix system including processors, moving-control module and the communication with the host computer are presented in detail and the whole design course of the hardware of the industrial robot Control Logix system and the software-supported environment are put forward. Then, the moving-control of the robot and the control of moving track and moving circumstance of industrial robot system based on PLC control are discussed, and the move-control of the robot is completed.Finally, a conclusion is given and the direction for the future research is put forword.
