With the rapidly development of the semiconductor technology,IP-based SoC design is becoming a predominant methodology of IC design.As a kind of IP core,IP soft core has a big advantage in reuse design because of its flexibility.However, there are many challenges when IP soft core reuse is practicing.IP soft core of high metric will improve the efficiency of design flow and promote the quality of the whole design.So evaluating the quality of IP soft core to alleviate the IP soft core selection,is becoming an important task in SoC design field.Based on the reuse methodology and the perspective of IP user,this dissertation focus on the research of IP soft core quality,evaluation flow and methods.Firstly,this dissertation summarizes the IP soft core quality challenges according to the actuality.Then quality merit characters of IP soft core are proposed in the dissertation,and the evaluation flow is divided into two stages:delivery assess and performance assess.This dissertation puts forward the corresponding evaluation guidelines and methods mainly about the evaluation methods of deliveries,test files and power dissipation.Finally,according to quality merit characters and the evaluation flow, this dissertation evaluates a 8051 IP soft core based on FPGA application,proposes a universal test strategy of 8051 IP soft core and makes some improvement to the 8051 IP soft core.The result of the evaluation and improvement,will be helpful for the subsequent design flow of the 8051 IP soft core.
