Multiple-input and Multiple-output (MIMO) techniques are the key schemes for achieving high data rate and performance in further communication systems. In this dissertation, we mainly focus on the topic of layered detection techniques and OFDM technique in MIMO systems. The main contents of this dissertation are expressed as follows:Firstly, essential theory for communication systems is reviewed, especially for some traditional detection technique.Secondly, the discussion of channel capacity is researched, and the channel capacity can be multiple with no increase in bandwidth.Thirdly, the discussion of layered detection technique in flat fading channel, and several traditional detection algorithms are presented to give a comparison in system performance. Both the advantage and disadvantage of the layered detection technique is presented. Two modified layered detection technique is proposed along with a comparison in system performance.Fourthly, give the universal channel model of the frequency selective channel. The main disadvantage of layered detection technique in frequency selective channel: error pervasion is also given.Afterwards, due to the error pervasion in frequency selective channel, two kinds of improved layered detection technique: the iterative one and the one combining layered detection technique with maximum-likelihood detection are presented. The simulations and discussion are given alone. At last, the combination of OFDM technique and layered receive technique are studied in MIMO system for further research.
