Railway transport is the key component of our national economy. Railway communication is the safety control in the transportation process. The security, reliability, and sustainable development lie on the level of communication technique. GSM-R is an advanced technical system, which is based on the mature technology of GSM, and it has provided an information platform with the characteristics of high stability, multi-function and multi-service. GSM-R can be interfered by many factors. Besides interfere of the intrinsic system, interfere between two systems also exist because GSM-R share E-GSM frequency channel with China Mobile. When the value of C/I is less than a certain constant, the quality of service will be influenced directly. The severe influence will lead to fault of connection and the failure in the call establishing process. As a result, the research on interfere is of great importance. In this paper, analysis on performance of GSM-R system under co-channel interference has been carried out, and this research will supply reference to reduce the influence on GSM-R system caused by co-channel interference.First of all, the protocol stack of the air interface is analyzed, including the functions of each layer and communication between different layers; The coding and decoding scheme of GSM-R system is analyzed; Wilkinson method is mentioned, and co-channel interference is analyzed theoretically with this method; Transmission performance is estimated under co-channel interference, since there are two manners to characterize transmission performance, outage probability is mentioned briefly, emphases is put on the research of bit error rate performance, simulation is made to show how the different factors affect BER. Radio link control of the system is summarized after the above depiction.
