Due to the popularization of information technology, enterprises demand collaboration and integration between various applications over the Internet. According to new dynamical requirements, enterprises also require integrating old services and new services quickly and flexibly to meet new requirements. Web service is promising for business application integration and dynamical collaboration. However, there are many problems with current Web services, including differences of information patterns and semantics, and the shortage of information relations. On the other hand, the precision and recall of current services matchmaking methods are not good enough. Neither can meet user's multi-level demands. To solve the problems, a framework of Web service publishing, discovery and integration (WS-PDI) was proposed. WS-PDI primarily has three functions. First, WS-PDI adds semantic to Web service description and eliminates information inconsistency by introducing the concepts and technologies of ontology and domain ontologies into Web service. Additionally, WS-PDI brings the concept and the presentation of user preference setting to support user's personal service. Second, WS-PDI provides three-level service matchmaking model, including basic information, interface and preference matchmaking, as well as the concept of similarity between web services extending the service matchmaking to unlimited types. Accordingly, the recall and the precision of service matchmaking were improved. Third, based on the single Web service description pattern and matchmaking model, WS-PDI provides process template description pattern and matchmaking rule. As a result, it provides users with large-granularity services matching. Besides, it improves the reusage of processes and meets user's service requests of different types.
