Development And Research On System Of Portable Player Based On MPEG-4

With the booming development of broadband network, the technology of streaming media is becoming the key field of the broadband application. Streaming media is invented to solve the problem that it costs a long time when people download media files. By using streaming technology, people need not download the whole file to watch the media, and they download the newest media content while watching the films. In order to transport A/V media in low bandwidth network, Moving Picture Expert Group (MPEG) establishes MPEG-4 Standard. It is a super low bit rate encoding standard and is used in video conference and video phone, and so on. The streaming media technology based on MPEG-4 compression standard is gradually becoming the technology focus. In the other side, with the rapid development of computer technology, embedded system is used more and more widely. Until now, embedded computer system is much more common than computer in application. With the excellent advantage of small space, powerful performance, low power dissipation, high reliability and special purpose, embedded system is widely used in national defence, consume electronic, networking communication, industry control field and so on. With the development of computer and communication technology, research and development of embeddedsystem are more and more useful.The thesis introduces a system of portable multimedia player which is developed on the embedded system and used MPEG-4 streaming media technology. Firstly, the thesis introduces the MPEG-4 standard, video encoding and decoding theory. Secondly, it introduces the theory and application of transport protocol RTP/RTCP/RTSP which is streaming media used. Thirdly, it analysed the file format of AVI, ASF and MOV and their application. And then, the thesis discusses the design, structure of the multimedia player. Finally, it makes a detailed statement on the realization of the player system. The content includes analyzing the file format, process of receiving streaming media data, synchronization of video and audio playing and so on.
